School of Applied Psychology

The ZHAW School of Applied Psychology is the leading centre of expertise for science-based applied psychology in Switzerland. With its bachelors’ and masters’ degrees, research and development programmes, and the consultancy services and further education courses offered by the IAP Institute of Applied Psychology, the department meets all the criteria for a faculty at a university of applied sciences.
Students of the ZHAW School of Applied Psychology are trained to become competent in several different fields of applied psychology, with science-based specialist and methodological skills and well-developed personal and social skills. As a result, our students enjoy a high degree of acceptance in the marketplace and in all fields of applied psychology.
The teaching faculty is closely linked to the department's research and development unit and the consultancy and further education units of the IAP Institute of Applied Psychology.  This requires a mutual transfer of knowledge, and allows students to gain productive practical experience in their special field.
The IAP is the university institute of the School of Applied Psychology of the ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences.

IAP Institute of Applied Psychology

The IAP is the leading consulting and training institute for applied psychology in Switzerland. Since 1923 the IAP has been developing specific science-based solutions for challenges that crop up in the practice of psychology. Through its consultancy service and further education courses, the IAP promotes expertise among people, organisations and companies, and helps them to act responsibly and successfully.
The IAP offers further education courses for psychologists and for specialists and managers working for private business enterprises, public organisations and social institutions. The teaching concept has been created to impart specialist, methodological, social and personal skills. Special in-house further education programmes are offered to companies.
The range of consultancy services comprises vocational/study guidance, career guidance, organisational and management advice, traffic and security psychology consulting, psychological consulting for schools and families and crisis consulting.
The IAP is the university institute of the School of Applied Psychology of the ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences. The latest insights from theory and practice are applied to the areas of consulting, further education, research and training, thus providing the basis on which we constantly develop our range of services.
