Research & Development

Mission statement
The three specialised research units of the research team at the ZHAW School of Applied Psychology focus on psychotherapy and mental health, coaching and training in organisations, and psychosocial development and the media, and develop suitable services, processes and products in these three fields.
The research profile is practice-, user- and market-oriented. We do contract research and application-oriented sponsored research which is financed by institutions that promote research (Swiss National Science Foundation, foundations). Our students also work on our research projects, for example as part of their practical training and their final theses. Our publications bear witness to the innovative potential harboured by research focusing on practical application and make an important contribution to specialist discourse in the scientific community.

Added value for studies, continuing education and consulting
The research and development units have close ties with the other service areas of the department. We make a significant contribution to the high level of quality, effectiveness and market relevance of the psychological services provided by the IAP university institute. We help make sure that our degree and continuing education courses are shaped by the most recent trends in theory and the latest research findings.

Research projects for our partners from the practice
Since 2001 we have been mandated to carry out more than 30 complex research projects. These have either already been finished or are currently in the implementation stage. Research projects focusing on all subject areas covered by our bachelor and master degrees have been implemented. We have drafted reports and developed products for our partners in the practice and our sponsors that are documented on the websites of the three specialised research units. Activities for which specific skills outside the scope of these focus areas are available are listed under "Other research projects".
