Psychotherapy and Mental Health
Lead: Prof. Dr. Agnes von Wyl
Research in the field of psychotherapy and mental health focuses on psychotherapy, consulting, and diagnostics for adults and children. Together with our partners from the practice we investigate the reliability, suitability and effectiveness of various therapeutic, diagnostic and intervention concepts under practical conditions. This practice-oriented research approach is evident, for example, in projects where we study the practical application of various psychotherapy methods as well as in the study of institutional care. Criteria such as the efficiency and effectiveness of clinical psychotherapy services are growing in importance. In addition to the effectivity criteria, it is also important to us that we do not lose sight of those patient needs that cannot be reduced to a cost-saving exercise. Our research efforts are geared towards obtaining facts to rationalise this discussion.
On the other hand we are also interested in mental health from the point of view of prevention. Psychologists have a broad knowledge of the methods that can be used to diagnose problems at an early stage and the preventive measures for all age groups. We are happy to develop and carry out such projects together with our partners from the practice.
